If you see things on sale throughout the year buy them then and save them (just don’t forget about them!)
I already do this, it can make such a difference spreading the cost throughout the year 🙂
Buy your Christmas groceries from Aldi or Lidl.
I love their festive ranges!
I set strict budgets and try to shop in January sales for items that will last
Great tip 🙂
Everyone wants to save money.
I agree!
Love to win
good luck 🙂
Bake tasty treats and wrap them in fancy paper to give as presents
I love baking for presents, I made fudge last year and it went down really well 🙂
Keep fit and deliver as many of your local Christmas cards yourself as you can, to save postage.
Love this!!
save money on wrapping paper , and help the environment , by giving gift cards , This also ensures the recipient can get what they want or need .
yes completely agree! Did you read our blog post about eco friendly ways to wrap presents from a couple of weeks ago?
Make your own special gifts, of pickles, biscuits etc and package them beautifully to make them look really special
I always make hampers with pickles, flavoured oils, chutneys etc. they always go down really well! 🙂
Leave a comment telling us your best festive money saving tip
for Christmas, start in January and by December you will have more than enough presents
I love being organised and buying presents throughout the year!
stop buying for everyone, been doing this for years now, makes so much sense
Totally agree, we’ve been doing secret santa in my family for the last couple of years and it has worked really well 🙂
Remember that “free” p&p isn’t really “free”. It’s *included* in the price.
love this, I always begrudge paying postage but I guess I’m just paying more for the item if it’s free!!
Search local buy and sell groups for almost new toys, little kids don’t know the difference!
I agree! I never buy new toys for kids!
Make personalised gifts
Love doing this 🙂
We make our own food hampers up as gifts, and spread the cost by picking one or two things up with our weekly shop, starting in October. Take note of “best before” and “use by” dates though!
I love making hampers 🙂 will be doing a few this year!
Waiting and looking out for last minute sales.
I do like to do this but also don’t like the risk!
Be creative. Make Christmas Cards and gifts with Family. A lots of fun and money savings.Merry Christmas.xxx
A lovely idea 🙂 Merry Christmas to you too!
Buy larger gift sets and split them up then just add a smaller token gift alongside.
oooh never thought of doing this! Great idea 🙂
We decided several years back to gift to ourselves rather than struggle to find certain gifts on low incomes!
Failing that, there are bargains aplenty in the sales to amass brilliant presents for whoever you are buying for. And, as my Nanna would do, save that wrapping paper your new presents were wrapped in if you can. It may look mean, but it can come in very handy for certain gifts.
Add a few items to your trolley every week starting in September then when you get to December you won’t have to spend hundreds of pounds all at once on food, drinks and presents.
I always buy presents throughout the year when in sales and put £5 a week by to help out over December
BUY EARLY
I buy all year makes such a difference 🙂
Buy cards and wrapping paper in the sales
love this one!
Definitely look at crafting gifts, or regifting/charity shop buys which is better for the environment too!
yes definitely! I made all my presents last year 🙂
We agree which person we are buying for, set a limit of £5 and make the purchase from a charity shop.
such a great idea! I love buying second hand gifts 🙂
I keep a christmas bag for the unused tags, cards and paper ready for the next year
such a great idea!
Hey very nice blog!
I could not resist commenting. Very well written!
I start buying Christmas presents, paper and cards etc from January. I then have most of the year scouring car boot sales and charity shops for new or nearly new items that I pay nowhere near full price for. By the time September comes I have bought all that I need and have plenty of time to wrap presents and write out cards. Job done.
Same! I love buying all year and getting fab second hand buys 🙂
Always compare prices and start early to decide what you want to get so you can keep an eye out for discounts.
Yes I agree buying early is key!!
Buy in the January sales for the next Christmas but don’t forget where you put things!
hah I like this idea but think I would forget and end up buying twice!!
